Kazakhstan performed 7 heart transplant surgeries - Vice PM

7 heart transplant surgeries have been performed in Kazakhstan over the past 3 years. Out of 7 surgeries, 6 were conducted by a team of surgeons of the National Research Center of Cardiac Surgery, Vice Prime Minister Gulshara Abdykalikova announced at the 3rd National Congress of Surgeons in Astana Friday. 

"The National Research Center of Cardiac Surgery performed 6 heart transplant surgeries," Abdykalikova said.

According to her, this result has been achieved thanks to the new technologies introduced by the Astana-based center. As the Deputy Prime Minister notes, it allowed Kazakhstan to enter the world's 20 most developed countries carrying out such surgeries.

More than 500 domestic and foreign physicians, scientists and experts, including 47 speakers - world-renowned specialists in the field of cardiology, cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology are taking part in the Astana-hosted congress. 

The aim of the congress is to bring surgeons from around the world closer, so they could share experience and ideas and discuss the latest achievements of science in the field of cardiac surgery.

Organizers of the event are Kazakhstan's "National Research Center of Cardiac Surgery" JSC, Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development, Nazarbayev University, the University of Chicago, and the World Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons.
