Kazakhstani becomes member of WHO Executive Board

Kazakhstani Maksut Kulzhanov has been elected member of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) at the 68th session of the World Health Assembly, the decision-making body of the WHO, in Geneva.
The main functions of the World Health Assembly are to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed program budget.
Professor Kulzhanov was elected for a three-year term until May 2018, according to the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Healthcare and Social Protection of Population.
The World Health Assembly believes that Kazakhstan will greatly contribute to the work of the WHO Executive Board.
Maksat Kulzhanov is the founder of the Kazakhstan School of Public Health. From 1992 till 1997 he served as Vice Minister of Healthcare in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Professor Kulzhanov has extensive experience in the sphere of healthcare.
