11 heart transplantation surgeries have been performed in Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year, director general of "National Scientific Medical Center" JSC Abai Baigenzhin told.
"In accordance with the information of 2014, 138 people require heart transplantation every year in Kazakhstan, another 250-300 people need liver transplantation, 1384 - kidneys, 3-5 people require lungs transplantation and about 37 people need pancreatic gland transplantation every year. Thus, 445 kidney transplantation, 76 liver transplantation and 21 heart transplantation surgeries have been performed in Kazakhstan since 2012. Thus, 11 of 21 heart surgeries have been performed in four months of 2015," A. Baigenzhin noted.
According to him, in order to ensure coordination of the transplantation service in the country, the national coordination center working in this sphere has been established in Astana and Almaty as well as in the regions.
Besides, master-classes on performing the most difficult operation on liver and kidney transplantation will be organized in the transplantation center in Astana today. The master classes are organized within the framework of the 1st Congress of the Transplant Surgeons of the Turkic World. The event brought together more than 350 specialists from 30 world countries.
